Applicants are sought for the position of Assistant Dean in the College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology to serve in the Helmerich Advanced Technology Research Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The Helmerich Center is a recently completed, state-of-the-art, 123,000 square foot research facility on the Oklahoma State University-Tulsa campus. The mission of the Helmerich Center is to serve the people of Oklahoma through world-class research and educational programs that create new industries and support the existing industries in the Tulsa region. The Assistant Dean will work closely with the Dean, Associate Deans, OSU-Tulsa leadership, and Helmerich Center faculty in support of the research, education, and economic development programs.
The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in engineering or a closely related field with 10 or more years of successful management experience in a technology based enterprise; which includes management of facilities, safety programs, technical professionals and support staff, materials inventories and waste disposal, and major equipment acquisition. Applicants must demonstrate superior communications and interpersonal skills, and an understanding of new enterprise/product creation based on newly developed intellectual property.
Preference will be give to candidates who have success working at the industry/academia interface; and a demonstrated record of teaching and/or research in an academic setting. Experience with machine shops, clean rooms, microscopy suites, characterization labs, and/or supercomputing labs will be considered an asset.
The Assistant Dean will be appointed as an Engineer in Residence, a full-time, non-tenure faculty position, will report to the Dean of Engineering, Architecture and Technology; and will receive OSU benefits. The salary will be commensurate with qualifications. Screening of applicants will begin on August 15, 2008 and continue until the position is filled.
